Epilepsy in dogs.. hereditary?

Well, let me tell you my story. I bought a little Poodle mix/mutt from a BYB. My dog had his first seizure in January of this year. (He's 3 years old) Since then, I have come to learn that his Sire and Dam also have seizures and that FOUR out of a litter of 7 have them. So, what do you think? There may even be more than 4 that have them, but that's what I found out so far.
